width="280"
/>

Usually, you cannot do much to promote a
table quiz
- or any other event - until the most important details have been organized. This includes where, when, why, how much etc.

A Key Fact Sheet is a tool you can use to organize this
information.

It has prompts for the critical information, and is a place to record the
agreed text for press-releases etc.

It may be particularly useful if you are doing the promotional work for someone
else's event: you can use it as the agreed source of information.

You can download a blank Key Fact Sheet at the bottom of this post - and you are
welcome to adapt it for your own use.

What does a Key Fact Sheet contain

Each event has different needs, but a good starting point for the key facts
includes

Quiz date and time

Location

Goals / aims

How to register / cost

Contact details / person

A sentence or two, for Facebook and Twitter posts, newsletters, reminder
emails, etc

A few paragraphs of text for press-releases, website posts, etc

A (link to) the logo or pictures that can be used to promote the quiz

There are exactly ten pages in each file - but of course you can print out less than ten pages if your table-quiz has less than ten rounds.

Give each team exactly one page for each round

If you want to change the number of questions, cater for multi-part questions or add your own logo, quiz or charity information, then it may be better to use the non-numbered version, which you can change before making additional copies with round numbers.

Also, in case a team loses a page, spills a drink over it, etc, it is a good idea to have some spare non-round-numbered forms on hand.

At the moment, it is only in one size - full-page (A4). However smaller size sheets (eg half-page, ie A5) can be produced - leave a comment below if you would like these.

Each form has marked areas for:

Team name

Team number

Round name

Answers to ten question

To start with, there are marked spaces for 10 questions. You may need to change this if you need space for multi-part questions, or if you have less questions in each round.

Make it your own

You are welcome to personalize this answer sheet. Things you might change include:

Logo / brand / charity information
The empty answer sheet has a title Quiz Answers, and a standard logo. Replace them with your own logo or name, and/or information about your organisation or the one that the quiz is begin run for.

Number and type of questions
If you have more than ten questions per round, use the MS Word version and add space for more answers

If you have less than ten questions per round, either change the form - or just ignore the extra spaces.

If you have multi-answer questions (eg "A) name the prime minister, and B) name the president"), you need to either change the form to reflect this - or just split them up into separate questions, so there is only supposed to be one answer on each line.

The form is made using Microsoft Word tables. In Word, you can add extra rows by highlighting the row, right-clicking and choosing "Add rows above" or "Insert rows below" (slightly different wording depending on the version you are using).
Quiz-question-suggestions about Sports

These questions could be asked about any popular sport

Famous players from your country or region (names, where they are from, what position they played, when they played, famous goals / tries / runs / points etc)

Famous players from your region (similar questions - maybe some more local ones eg who is <<teacherName>>'s nephew who plays XYZ for <<whereever>>

Famous matches (date, result, events)

Famous competitions (eg the World Cup) - general knowledge questions about the last one or the next one

Sports-grounds: match the name and city they are in, or match picture of the ground to the name

Team colours - who wears each jersey (good for a picture round)

These questions are best if they include a mixture of sports - some well known and not

Sports equipment: what sport would you be playing if you were using a ...

Sporting words: what sport would you be listening to if the commentator talked about ...

Rules - how long is a match, how bit is a pitch, how many people on each team, etc

What sports to ask about

The best questions are about sports which your quiz participants know about. (If you're not a sports fan yourself, look in your local newspaper to see what is reported about.)

If the quiz is for a sports organisation, you may ask very detailed questions about that sport.

If it's for a group of people who typically aren't big sport participants, them choose very general knowledge questions about the most-popular sports in your country.

Google "list of popular sports" to get ides of sports.

Google "list of olympic events" for ideas of sports that aren't so obvious.

Writing the questions for a table-quiz is an art-form. The questions need to be:

Easy enough so that people have an enjoyable time - no one wants to feel like a total loser!

Difficult enough so there's a clear margin between the best team and the rest.

Most importantly, they need to be about topics which the people who attend your quiz are likely to know about: there's no point asking (most) senior citizen's about current pop-stars, or asking (most) teenagers about films from the 1950s.

That usually means that no one else can write your quiz-questions for you: the rest of us just don't know what country you live in, or about the age and life experiences of your quiz-participants.

But the quiz-question suggestions series has lots of ideas about the types of questions you could ask - and you can use the suggestions to create actual questions to suit your audience.

For some topics, one suggestion might be enough to create an entire round of questions, while for others you might choose one or two of each type of question to get a round.
